GHGA and NFDI4Health Strengthen Collaboration with MoU

GHGA and NFDI4Health have formalised their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to address critical needs in the research community by fostering joint activities and facilitating seamless interaction between the two consortia.

The collaboration focuses on several key objectives:

  1. Establishing legal and ethical frameworks to facilitate the sharing of personal health data, addressing GDPR challenges and ensuring consent and data protection standards.
  2. Harmonising technical and organisational standards for efficient data exchange, leveraging tools like DataSHIELD for secure data processing.
  3. Aligning infrastructure solutions to enable comprehensive data analysis, creating common identifiers and linkage mechanisms.
  4. Positioning GHGA and NFDI4Health as leaders in the German and European Health Data Space, influencing policies and standards for the use of personal health data.

By combining their resources and expertise, GHGA and NFDI4Health are committed to developing more efficient data-sharing mechanisms, providing researchers with high-quality, interoperable datasets. This initiative will enhance the scientific use of personal health data, ultimately leading to improved population health.

As a  first step, we will establish a dedicated biomedical task force within the NFDI. Details about the kick off meeting will be announced soon.
